John Ryan – World Series Game 6 Thoughts
10/27/2011As I had stated yesterday, that sound of a sick Indian with poor motor skills was Tony LaRussa doing his best ‘rain dance’ impersonation. MLB did the right thing canceling the event four hours in advance to avoid another ‘stop-and-go’ playoff baseball game. That successful rain dance and no doubt countless calls to Bud Selling’s office now makes Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter available for Game 7. Not bad, but Texas actually gets the shaft twice.
The weather in Texas yesterday was 60 degrees and clear at game time. If it were not for Bud Selling’s ridiculous idea to have the All-star Game determine the home field advantage for the World Series, then Game 6 would have taken place in Texas.

John Ryan – College Football Blog
10/06/2011Illinois is 5-0 for the first time since 1951 and that is before Dick Butkus roamed the fields destroying quarterbacks and running backs. In that year, 60 seasons ago, the Illini ended up 9-0-1 playing to a 0-0 tie with Ohio State. They destroyed Stanford in the Rose Bowl by 33 points.
Illinois will probably be 6-0 after they play a weak Indiana team Saturday, but the Ohio State game still looms. I don’t think the game will be 0-0, but I do think it is their turn to defeat the Buckeyes.
Auburn is at it again winning three games this year by seven points or less. Last year they won seven games by eight points or less and five games by three or less points.

For tonight, the Texans are 2.5-point favorites over the Jets at Bet Online, where they are offering a FREE $100 to anyone who makes a $300 deposit.
