Bodog MLB Grand Slam Parlay Contest

05/02/2011

The best way to bet on Major League Baseball is back and only Bodog, the most trusted source for online sports betting, could make it this intriguing. Stick around the sportsbook this summer to take part in Bodog’s Grand Slam Parlay contest. Only at Bodog does every MLB parlay bet earn bettors a chance to win weekly cash prizes.

Sure, betting on baseball is a worthwhile challenge in itself, but it’s no secret how much different betting on four-game parlays can be. Instead of choosing a single winner, bettors’ fates depend on a combination of four games. Think you can handle the pressure of four individual outcomes?

The best part about the Grand Slam Parlay contest is that, win or lose, every four-game parlay bet played of $10 or more will earn bettors points. The top 50 bettors with the most points each week will earn a share of $5000. That means up to $1000 just for being a weekly winner.

There’s a reason Bodog is the most trusted name when it comes to online sports betting and 16 years of success certainly doesn’t hurt. Why bet anywhere else when the Grand Slam Parlay contest promises cash even for unsuccessful plays?

Nothing quite beats the thrill of a four-game parlay, except perhaps the feeling that comes from walking away with a coveted parlay victory. MLB parlay betting might not be for the faint of heart, but the payout certainly makes up for it.

With the Grand Slam Parlay contest, bettors have a backup plan in the event that their parlays don’t pan out. More parlays attempted simply mean more points, and more points mean cash.

Sign up for an account with Bodog’s online sportsbook and start building up points now. Though the contest runs weekly, a parlay bet with your name on it might be fast approaching.

Get all your MLB odds at Bodog – your home for the most baseball betting options.

Eddie Keen – MLB Betting Strategies

04/14/2011

Today we are going to take a look at a few different styles of baseball handicapping. Some say MLB betting is the easiest of all four sports. There are a few different techniques for baseball handicapping; betting on pitchers, looking at situational trends, and even jumping on winning or losing runs.

Betting on pitchers is one of the most common strategies for MLB Sports Betting. Sports handicappers will look into pitchers ERA’s and WHIP’s or even look at how they have been pitching over a span of their last three or five matchups. They will also look into past results when they face off against a certain team or how they do when they are starting at a certain park. Some starters pitch much better at home then they do on the road. Another key aspect to factor in is how many innings a certain pitcher normally pitches and how much you will have to rely on the bullpen. Betting on the stronger pitcher might be one of the most used methods for baseball handicapping but it also can have its flaws.

Using situational trends is another way to bet baseball. Looking at how a certain team plays on the road, how they play at home, if they play well coming off a day of rest, etc, would all be examples. There are many different types of situational trends to look at including pitching trends, which we have already touched on a bit. Other situational trends factor in betting lines; for example, if a team is a big favorite or big dog the team might tend to play much better or much worse. The total will even come into play here because some people might think that if a total is very low and it is due to a pitching trend for a certain starter that might be because they are a strong pitcher or maybe because a team might play harder against a pitcher that has a low ERA. There are many different types of situational trends and you can check them out at the Vegas Experts MLB Trends Page.

The last way of handicapping we are going to take a look at today is what we call “Playing the Streak”. Some handicappers will go with this method and some will go against it, as they have the thought that a team is due for a loss or due for a win. Baseball is a game of runs and teams will likely get on many long winning or losing runs throughout the long 162 game MLB regular season. Some teams might get on a huge six or nine game winning streak or a team might lose six or nine games in a row. Some sports handicappers like some momentum going into a matchup and some will look at a long winning run as a good time to go against a strong favorite as they could possibly be due for a loss.

John Ryan – Ryan’s Rant

AJ Burnett. Wow.. are we 8 years old and the coach didn’t put us into our favorite position on the field. Quite honestly, a starter in MLB, how is making the type of money he is making right now should have at least engaged himself into a sports psychology regiment. To cut both hands in the third inning on a temper fit and cost his team not only the game but valuable bullpen innings should cause for a team suspension.

The Yankees bullpen has already been poor in home games and this only leads to adding to the Rays chances of winning Sunday afternoon. TB is a solid 12-2 against the money line versus an AL starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.20 or better this season.Add in the bullpen woes and you have a solid bet on TB.

Murray Hill Mike- 2010 MLB All-Star Game

07/13/2010

The annual 2010 MLB All-Star game kicks off tonight at 8 PM with Colorado’s Ubaldo Jimenez starting for the National League and Tampa Bay’s David Price for the American League in the lone MLB Betting game of the night. Following Jimenez in the rotation will be Florida’s Josh Johnson, Philadelphia’s Roy Halladay, San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum and many more. They will try and give the NL a chance of snapping 13-year drought including a 7-7 tie in 2002.

The American League has won four of the last six World Series’ titles and has won the Interleague battles for the past few years. Monday Night’s Home Run Derby Champion David Ortiz will be a reserve for the AL tonight. C.C. Sabathia who pitched on Sunday with the Yankees will not be eligible to pitch for the AL. Let the betting begin for the 2010 MLB All-Star Game.

Lenny Del Genio MLB White Sox Pen Produces

07/07/2010

When you’re betting MLB baseball one of the main factors is the starting pitchers. In last night’s White Sox versus Angels game Chicago sent out Jake Peavy who had been pitching good but didn’t have a very good ERA on the season. In handicapping MLB baseball sometimes you look for an average pitcher who’s had a couple of good outing to come back to the norm. However, for those of us who played against Peavy last night, he didn’t stay around long enough to get beat up. Peavy left in the second inning with a back injury. The so-so Sox bullpen made the White Sox an MLB betting winner as they pitched 7 and 1/3 innings allowing only one run. However, they were like Houdini as they escaped several tough spots leaving 15 Angel runners on base. With that fine performance the White Sox bull pen improves their ERA to 4.36 at home.

The Resurgence of Carl Pavano

When handicapping baseball the key factor is pitching. On today’s card, the Twins send out Carl Pavano who just a few years ago many thought was done. Pavano pitched the first eight years of his career in Montreal and Florida, before signing a very lucrative free agent contract with the New York Yankees. That was a disaster as Pavano only made 26 starts in three years. He had claimed he was injured put in the Yankee club house those injuries were in question. Cleveland picked him up, but when they had their fire sale he was traded to Minnesota. Pavano has been a great pickup as he has given the Twins 15 quality starts this season with a 9-6 team start record and 3.33 ERA. He’s beaten up the online sportsbooks in his last three starts with a perfect 3-0 team start record. Tonight, the Twins host Tampa and the online sportsbooks give Pavano another good chance for a win posting him as a $-115 MLB betting favorite. An interesting betting trend in this game tells us that Minnesota is a very profitable 40-17 against teams like Tampa that strike out 7 or more times per game.

John Ryan’s MLB Betting Rant

06/30/2010

The Phillies are back and are playing Championship-caliber baseball. Last night they blew a 6-1 lead, but still managed to win the game 9-6 in 10 innings. Lidge, with two outs in the ninth, managed to allow a 3-run home run, but the Phillies immediately got the first two men on base and scored against Rhoads, who had not allowed an earned run yet this season. They have been playing with numerous injuries and have used the opening day lineup just 5 times this season. JA Happ has been out, but is expected back soon to solidify the rotation. They will be without Utley and Palonco for at last 15 days.

The Phillies won last night without them and now that Rollins is back they will be just fine. We fully expect them to take over the NL East by the trade deadline. If you think the Cubs are a lock today simply because they are playing the Pirates you better take a look at this MLB Betting Trend: The Cubs are just 7-20 (-21.9 Units) against the money line versus NL teams scoring 4.3 or less runs/game on the season this year.

Baseball Dogs Are Biting!

There was a small card in MLB betting action on Monday, but it was a big day for underdogs. Of the 11 MLB games, seven of them were won by underdogs, and some were pretty big puppies. There were three teams that won despite being installed as $170 or greater dogs by the online betting sportsbooks. The lowly Pittsburgh Pirates had lost 17 straight road games and were installed on the betting line as $190 underdogs. They upset the Cubs 2-1.

The online sportsbooks gave no chance to the Houston Astros with Norris on the mound and they beat the Brewers as whopping $195 betting underdogs. The final big puppy to beat the betting line was $170 underdogs were the Tigers. It was a bit of a surprise to see Detroit that big of an underdog even against Liriano. The Tiger backers were delivered a big 7-5 win. For all you sports bettors, in case you’re wondering if you would have parlayed those three dogs in a 3-team parlay and wagered $100 you would have collected $2,170!

John Ryan’s MLB Betting Rant

06/25/2010

In my 17 years of sports handicapping experience, it seems that betting on the best starters after three losses is a very attractive MLB betting system. The same can be said about poor starters winning less than 30% of their games after a three-game winning streak and betting against them.

Halladay is one of the best starters in baseball period. He is off three straight losses and this occurred last year in late August. In that next start on September 4, 2009, the Blue Jays hosted the Yankees and he pitched a complete game shutout and allowed just one hit!

John Ryan’s MLB Betting Rant

06/22/2010

Texas is red hot and has opened up a three game lead in the AL West. Hamilton is having a “sick” June batting .474 with a .500 OBP and .846 OPS. They are also coming off one of the best road trips in franchise history. Yet, this is going to be a time where MLB Bettors can wager against them as things cool off. Confirming this notion is a great MLB Betting Trend: Texas is just 4-16 against the money line with an on base percentage of .393 or better over their last 3 games over the last 2 seasons.

They play the Pirates for three and then Houston for three in this six-game home stand, and because these are two of the worst teams in MLB, the lines will be greatly inflated. This will open up opportunities for you to get paid very well for backing the dog.
